IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. This information is stated in the official notification.

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scores are also accepted.

Scores from international exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. International students may need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. An interview committee of faculty members will conduct these interviews.
