IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is now open on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, international.iitd.ac.in .

The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the institute’s official notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
