IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Admission Process Overview

Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal. The portal will remain open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Prospective students must submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referee Recommendations

Referees will assess candidates based on their overall aptitude and proficiency in their chosen field. Recommendations will also cover research potential, independent thinking abilities, and oral and written English skills, according to the official notification.

Eligibility and Required Scores

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests to be considered. These include:

  • DST INSPIRE

International English proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission decisions will be based on candidate performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
