IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the official notification.
Admission Criteria
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs requires specific test scores. Candidates may need to submit scores from Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) results. English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. This interview forms a key part of the selection process.
