IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international entrance exams. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on a candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
