The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in .
The deadline for foreign national candidates is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. An interview committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
