IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
The admissions are for the academic year 2026-27. The portal will close at 4 PM on the application deadline date.
Eligibility extends to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills. This information is outlined in the official notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may submit scores from GRE and GMAT.
Selection Process
Admission offers will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
