IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Int’l Students – Apply by Mar 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Criteria

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International students may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will extend admission offers based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
