Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel consists of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
