Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are being accepted through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Details
The application portal for foreign national candidates remains open until March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . This applies to admissions for the academic years 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Candidates must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered.
Additional English proficiency test scores from examinations such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also required. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance.
Selection Process
Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
