IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process and Requirements

Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

The notification states that referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. These evaluations are part of the admission process.

Academic Qualifications and Testing

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants must submit scores from one of these recognized tests.

Selection Procedure

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to participate. An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will conduct the selection.
