The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
While the primary application portal is for international students, IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
