IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
