IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Process for International Students
Applicants must provide a statement on their English language proficiency. They will also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores may also be considered.
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
International applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
