IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year.

Candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International exam scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.

An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant disciplines, will assess candidates. The committee evaluates their suitability for the program.
