IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Admission Process

Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal. The portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Candidates must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), can also be submitted.

Candidates must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. A strong academic record is necessary to be invited for the interview.
