IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Admissions Overview

The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27 . International students, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Academic Qualifications and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) awards.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates may submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
