IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
To be eligible, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
Proof of English language proficiency is required. This can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
