The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
In addition to academic records, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include national exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic backgrounds will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
