IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Int’l Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

The programs are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration of English skills. Candidates must also provide the names of two referees.

Application Requirements

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will also evaluate proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are key assessment areas. English language proficiency, both spoken and written, will also be reviewed by referees.

Academic Qualifications

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also considered. The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) qualification is another option.

International examinations are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores are mandatory. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Admission Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
