The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), can also fulfill admission requirements.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
The interview committee will assess candidates’ overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
