The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Eligible candidates include non-Indian nationals. This also covers individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Process and Requirements
To apply, candidates must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee. They must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
