Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admission Details
Candidates can submit applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency.
Application Requirements
The application process requires candidates to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may also be a requirement.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
