Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Required Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores can also be submitted. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
