IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submissions is 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT can also be submitted.

IIT Delhi uses interviews to make admission decisions. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also necessary. These scores demonstrate a candidate’s ability in the English language for academic purposes.
