IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, located at international.iitd.ac.in. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on the closing date.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. All eligible candidates can apply for both PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement detailing their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two individuals who can provide recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

Depending on the program, applicants may be required to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be necessary.

Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Final admission decisions will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate in interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic disciplines.
