IIT Delhi has opened admissions for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year closes on March 30, 2026 .
Application Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM .
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests.
- For PhD and PG programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- For international applicants: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
