The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27.
Interested candidates must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
IIT Delhi considers various entrance exam scores for admissions. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
