IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Admission Details
The application window is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Candidates must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
