IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The notification stated referees will comment on these areas.

Required Examinations and Scores

While not always mandatory, scores from national entrance exams may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through standardized tests. Accepted scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee. This committee will represent the relevant academic discipline.
