The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application window closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores are mandatory.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
