IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Process and Requirements

Candidates must declare their English proficiency. The application requires the names of two academic referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. This includes:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Criteria

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview committee comprises faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

The academic session for which admissions are open is 2026-2027 . The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .
