IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal will remain open until 4 pm on the closing date.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams for PhD and PG admissions. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores may also be considered. This includes the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with faculty members from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
