IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. Applications can be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Submission of scores from specific standardized tests may be required. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE fellowship.

International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be submitted. Additionally, candidates may need to present scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
