IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications via the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application portal for foreign nationals will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They are also required to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examinations such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
