IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year.
Interested students must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
The application portal for international candidates is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
