IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details for Foreign Nationals
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Required Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also considered:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
