IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Required Scores and Tests

Admission may require scores from national or international tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International tests like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

Proficiency in English must be proven. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also accepted.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi selects candidates based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. This process assesses the candidate’s suitability for advanced study.
