IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications can be submitted via the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
