IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested students must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. Applicants also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Application Process and Requirements
The application portal will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . The official website for applications is international.iitd.ac.in.
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores may also be accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or other equivalent tests.
Admission Criteria
Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
