IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

The application portal is open for admissions to the academic year 2026-27. This applies to foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, subject proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International students can also submit scores from international examinations. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, proof of English language proficiency is required.

Accepted English proficiency tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty from their chosen discipline.
