IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission consideration. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International Standardized Tests
Scores from international examinations may also be required. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on applicant performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
