Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are not Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability.
Admission Requirements
Potential candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admission. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
The interview panel assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program and their potential for research.
