Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
While a strong academic record is required, IIT Delhi may also consider scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic backgrounds will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview will assess overall aptitude and suitability for advanced study.
