The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are accepted online.
Admission Details
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes students with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They must also provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will comment on candidate aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are evaluated. English language proficiency will be reviewed.
Eligibility and Scores
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program scores are also considered. For international applicants, Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores may be required.
English Proficiency Tests
Scores from English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members will conduct the interviews. The committee assesses suitability for the chosen discipline.

The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. This is for admissions in the 2026-27 academic year.
