IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications can be submitted online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews.
