IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Eligibility
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes students holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Reference Requirements
Referees will provide comments on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This feedback is part of the application review.
Academic and Entrance Exam Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted exams are CSIR UGC NET and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL and IELTS are also required.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. These interviews are conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline.
