IIT Delhi is accepting applications for the academic year 2026-27. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . This opportunity is available for non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and oral and written English abilities.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from recognized entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required. Furthermore, applicants must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
