IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admissions Overview
The application window is open for admissions to the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can furnish recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Eligibility Criteria and Scores
In addition to academic qualifications, candidates may be required to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English will also be assessed through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant department. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for this interview.
