CBSE Class 12 Exams Postponed in Middle East Until March 16

New Delhi : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed Class 12 board exams in the Middle East until March 16 . The decision comes amid heightened tensions from the Iran-Israel conflict.

Exam Postponement Details

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj announced the postponement. The exams were originally scheduled from March 12 to March 16. Bhardwaj cited the current situation in the Middle East. He also mentioned student distress and prevailing uncertainties. The affected regions include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Previous Schedule Changes

This is not the first schedule adjustment. Previously, CBSE had postponed exams on March 2, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 11 in the same region. Class 10 exams were cancelled until March 11. The method for declaring Class 10 results will be announced separately.

Regional Conflict Context

The conflict escalated following military strikes by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28. These strikes resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated with attacks targeting Israel and American military bases. These bases are located in Gulf countries like the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

Next Steps

New exam dates for the postponed Class 12 papers will be announced later. The board will review the situation further on March 14 . India has urged resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
